Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the way we learn and develop our skills. In particular, video and audio AI tools for training quickly make learning more engaging, interactive, and personalized. Previously, I introduced how AI would play a leading role in training creation and I explored AI Image Tools for L&D. In this article, we will get deeper and explore some of the AI-driven video and audio tools that are helping individuals and organizations to enhance their learning and development.
From AI videos to audio and video editing, to AI whiteboard videos and audio clean-up tools, there is no doubt that AI-powered tools are revolutionizing the way we approach learning and development. As technology continues to evolve, AI is increasingly transforming the way we learn and develop our skills. By taking a first step via AI-powered video and audio, we can learn how to create a more engaging learning experience more quickly.
AI Avatar Videos
AI video tools for training use machine learning algorithms to create realistic 3D avatars that can be used to create video content. Synthesia.io and D-ID.com are two examples of AI avatar video tools that are widely used for learning and development.
Synthesia.io allows users to create videos using AI-generated avatars that can be customized to speak different languages and accents. This tool is particularly useful for content that changes or for courses that require multiple languages. An example is the welcome video above. Synthesia.io also offers a range of features that allow users to add background images, text, and animations to their videos via templates to deliver a professional video creation process.
D-ID.com is another AI avatar video tool that specializes in creating personalized video messages for learners. This tool launched with the benefit of allowing users to create avatars of themselves. A practical use case is delivering a message in multiple languages or for training that requires an authority.
Hunet is a Korean EdTech company that provides AI teaching solutions to create educational content. They offer a TTV solution-based content creation that anyone can easily create and provides editing functions such as subtitles/music/speed with their AI narrated videos. They also offer customized AI instructor models. I had the opportunity to see their technology in action and I noted that they are working on further developing their diversity in their Avatar characters.
Audio and Video Editing
For Learning and Development professionals, we can harness the powers of audio and video AI tools to revolutionize how we edit and produce audio and video content. Trint, Descript, and Adobe Podcast are some of the most popular AI-driven audio and video editing tools that are used for learning and development.
Descript.com is an AI-driven editing tool that allows users to edit audio and video content using text-based editing. Descript uses machine learning algorithms to automatically transcribe audio and video files into text. Users can then use a simple text editor to make small edits to what the speaker in the video said, just by changing the transcript text. Descript.com also offers a range of features that allow users to add music, sound effects, and captions to their videos. Price: The free version enables 1 hour of transcription and 10 minutes of Studio Sound per month. Basic plans are $12 USD per month
Trint.com uses AI-powered speech-to-text technology to transcribe audio and video files into text. Instructional designers find this tool particularly useful for creating transcripts of lectures or webinars, which can be used for content in the instructional design process. Price: Plans start at $60/month USD
Adobe Podcast is an AI-powered podcast editing tool that is designed to help users create high-quality video and audio podcasts quickly and easily. While not specifically for use in L&D, I’ve found the clean up capabilities are great and it’s useful for learning podcasts. This tool uses machine learning algorithms to automate the podcast editing process, including removing background noise, enhancing audio quality, and adding music and sound effects. Price: It’s currently in beta.
Audio Clean-up Tools
L&D professionals can enjoy a significant time savings with AI-powered audio clean-up tools. Now, it’s easy to produce high-quality audio content. Resound, Auphonic, and Cleanvoice.ai are some of the most popular AI-powered audio clean-up tools that are used for learning and development.
Resound uses AI-powered noise reduction algorithms to remove unwanted background noise from audio recordings. While it’s built for podcasting, this tool is particularly useful for recording lectures or webinars in noisy environments. Price: Free for up to one hour of editing a month; paid plans start at $12/month.
Auphonic is another AI-driven audio clean-up tool that offers a range of features for enhancing audio quality. This tool uses machine learning algorithms to automatically adjust the volume, equalize sound levels, and remove noise from audio recordings. It’s geared for videos, education, podcasts, audio books. Price: Free for 2 hours of processed audio a month.
Cleanvoice.ai is an AI-powered audio clean-up tool that specializes in removing unwanted sounds from voice recordings. While purpose-made for podcast, this tool uses machine learning algorithms to identify and remove unwanted sounds, such as lip smacks or breathing noises, from any audio recordings. Price: The first 30-minute recording is free, after which there are monthly options starting at 10 Euros/month or pay-as-you-go options starting at 1.30 Euros an hour.
AI Whiteboard Videos
Instructional designers can use AI whiteboard videos to quickly create animated videos using just a script.
Doodly.com is a AI whiteboard video tools that is used for learning and development. A few years ago, I witnessed a demo of this tool at a conference, and I was surprised by its user-friendliness and price, albeit limited capabilities. If the AI images were not accurate, I could easily modify them. Users can create engaging whiteboard videos quickly and easily with Doodly.com, which offers a variety of features. This tool uses machine learning algorithms to produce hand-drawn animations based on the text. However, it only generates whiteboard videos, and users still need to import and edit them in other video tools to produce fully polished, colorful videos.
Watchout – Doodly has a “scammy” offer of $67 USD one time only payment for unlimited access but there’s a lot of hidden strings attached and users end up auto-enrolled for a subscription they didn’t intend.
